"Want an axe to break the ice
Wanna come down right now...
Ashes To Ashes - David Bowie

New Years Day, after my late night at Cirque for the Bollywood party, was a late start.  I still had to rouse myself from my slumber, though, as I'd made arrangements to see the lovely Caroline from Cathouse Clothing and enjoy some early 2017 entertainment courtesy of the Manchester Storm ice hockey team.

After meeting for pre-match drinks in a very quiet Altrincham, we made our way to the venue. Bizarrely, so I could sit with Caroline, I found myself sitting in the 'away' section with the Sheffield Steelers fans, even though where I work from in Altrincham is but a short walk from the home team's rink.

It was a thoroughly entertaining evening, helped along by bursts of rock music (they seem to favour AC/DC, which was OK by me!) blaring from the rink sound system, and the action on the ice was pretty good too.

The Sheffield Steelers eventually ran out comfortable winners at 4-1, but it was definitely a great way to pass a normally-quiet New Years Day.

Changes - David Bowie

A year ago I was enjoying some winter sun in Tenerife - and the recent cold snap made me wish I was back in the equatorial heat of the Canary Islands.  I remember waking one morning to the sad and shocking news that David Bowie had died, and sat for a while in the hotel room watching the morning news.  A year later, on the eve of what would have been Mr Bowie's 70th birthday, I found myself heading to Scary Monsters, one of Manchester's long-running club nights, for a full David Bowie tribute night.

Fours hours of non-stop Bowie greats was a wonderful way to honour the artist, and the celebration was a lovely way to light the darkness of a cold January Saturday night.

Finally, speaking of 'Changes', January saw my update of my website Gallery images and Adultwork profile.  I'm determined to add more to my Adultwork Private Gallery as soon as I can - it has been neglected as of late.

So in the absence of any trips to seek the sun or other ch-ch-ch-changes, it is business and service as normal - at least my bedroom frolics keep me warm and energised!
