Snow, Spring and Stockport.

Wow.  I can't believe that my last post was waaaaaay back in January.  What the hell happened in February?  Oh yes, now I remember...

Dexi Delite Altrincham and Manchester Escort - The Beast Fromt The East arrives... but not so much in Manchester.
Yes, the arrival of 'The Beast From The East', the pretty horrendous weather front that blasted all the way across central Europe from Russia, resulting in snow in Rome (very rare), blocked roads and communities across eastern Scotland and England, caused frozen seas around the UK and gave the chance for some Lowry-esque snow-art in Sheffield...

Meanwhile, here in Manchester it also snowed.  A bit.  Whilst the northern reaches of the city (Rochdale, etc) and the Pennines side were, well, snowed under, in the city centre there were a few flurries of the white stuff which soon turned to a Manchester-grey slush.

Unfortunately for me, it meant a quieter time than usual, as some travelling gentlemen simply couldn't make it.  I kept myself warm with hot drinks, whisky, dairy-free cakes and chocolate (courtesy of a re-located Bon Bon) and the occasional hot sex from those chaps who did battle through the weather to stoke their hard pokers in my hot fireplace.

So, the grim month of February was, well, more grim than usual, so I found myself longing for March to bring the promise of some sunshine and the first buds of Spring.  With this in mind, I arranged to meet up with Stockport friends for a trip to the busy Vintage Market in the town centre.

Luckily, Sunday dawned lovely and bright, so I dressed in my leather-look shiny skin-tight leggings, Natacha Marro fetish boots and new Harris Tweed jacket from Violet Flamingo and headed to Stockport to meet the rest of my vintage-following friends.

Already, a fabulous old Ford Zephyr was parked outside the old Market Hall as a lovely welcome...

Cock up?  Hmmm... similar to my line of work, perhaps, only mine would be cocks...

Inside the Market Hall there were numerous traders, offering vintage wares from clothing, memorabilia, collectibles, books and records.  Fabulous.

I was actually on the look-out for a vintage-style hat to go with my new tweed jacket, (which is still only half an outfit as the skirt is still being made by the designer at Violet Flamingo), but sadly couldn't find one to suit.

After an hour or so browsing the stalls it was time to head for tea and cake in the finest vintage tradition.  That meant only one place in Stockport - the outstanding Hillgate Cakery, purveyors of the finest and best cakes in town - and all dairy-free, to boot!  I cannot recommend this fantastic place enough.

After gorging on a truly scrumptious (and huge slice) Biscotti Cake and tea, we marched back up the hill to the Market Place (one of the gents in the group decided that he simply couldn't live without a motoring magazine from 1964 - and in great condition - for £2!) we found more glorious cars had arrived in the pretty market square.

There was one more brief look around whilst the 1964 magazine was purchased, which gave me time to spot a very sexy leopard-fur cropped jacket, which I had to have for £5, and immediately gave me the idea for a photoshoot.  Sated with a few purchases and Hillgate Cakery's finest wares, we finally said our goodbyes and headed home.

Did I find a glimpse of Spring on Sunday?  Of course.  Not only did the sun come out to greet us, but a couple of my favourite fuzzy creatures did, too.

As George Harrison sang in 1969, Here Comes The Sun.  Lovely.
